Field Trip - Tanners Orchard

After wake up a little bit early than usual, we leave for our first field trip by the university. In the way, we get lost, and arrived at Tanners later than other groups, but everything went well.

There was a lot of food, most made by apple and pumpkins. We prove some things, and were delicious. There also had a lot of gift things, such as plush animals, scarves, bags, decorations for Christmas and Halloween, and obviously, food, like apple pies, juice, pumpkins and garlic creams, and even pickled eggs, which is something I had never seen.

I think most people who were there were children, and I loved it. Outside the store had a lot of big pumpkins, and farm things, and the kids played with them.

There also had some animals, like chickens, goats, and llamas, which was what caught my attention, because I had never seen. They are animals of South America, the Subcontinent where is my country, Brazil, but they live in the Andes. They are amazing, and very friendly.

Everyone could feed the animals with proper food, and take pictures. The children loved, and tried with his parents.

When we leave Tanners, we went to a outlet to shopping, and before back to WIU we we take a snack at Starbucks, was awesome!

I have to say I really liked this trip, was very nice, and I hope that there are others in the future.

Presentation

My name is Lidia, but my friends and Family call me “Dida”, that is my nickname. I’m from Natal, Brazil.

I really appreciate to read, specially fiction, romance and books related to Biology, Culture and Feminism. Some of my favorites books are “The Book Thief”, “The Chronicles of Narnia”, “The Hunger Games” and “The Giver”. I also love chronicles and tales, and “Mafalda”, a character created by an Argentine writer called Quino. This character is a girl with big hair, very critical and smart, and also likes the Beatles.  I’m not a sport person, I don`t know play nothing well, but I like to dance, and play ball just for fun with friends.

I love music, and I love sing, specially classical music and mpb. The genres that I like to listen are mpb, classical music, jazz, blues, rock, funk, and a little bit of pop. The singers and bands I used to listen is a very large list, but I can quote The Beatles, Chico Buarque, Natalie Dessay, Ella Fitzgerald, Novos baianos, Roberta Sá, and classical composers like Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and Bach.
I like to watch animation, comedy, romantic, sci-fi, fantasy and action movies, but I don`t like horror movies. Some of my favorites are The Lord of The Rings, Toy Story, Spirited Away, and Howl`s Moving Castle.

In my free time I used to listen music and talk with my boyfriend and family who lives in Brazil, and watch movies, or just relax or walk.
I think the USA is a great country for those who want to study science and technology. Is a developed country and a lot to learn in terms of culture.
Here in WIU I want to get the maximum possible, because is a great opportunity can study here with so many resources and very good professionals.

I really want to learn English very well and improve my study habits. When I start my major, I want to get involved with activites related to evolution and zoology, because that is what I want to work in the future, making researches and teaching.  I want to be a good professional and encourage people to study and like science and make a better world.
